3 Things You Can Do With That Extra Room In Your Home
Do you have an extra room in your home, by any chance? Maybe it used to be your son’s bedroom before he moved out, maybe you just read the number of rooms wrong when buying the home and got saddled with an extra room you didn’t need, or maybe you specifically bought a house with more rooms than you needed so you could turn it into a personal space. Either way, having an extra room in your home can be pretty annoying; and eventually, you may be gripped with the desire to fill it with something.
Whether you live in Desa Park City or in a Gombak condo or in an Ara Damansara condominium, you tend to have the same default rooms in a house – a kitchen, a bathroom, a bedroom, and a living room. The number of some of these rooms may vary, but it’s pretty standard that we will at least have one of each for basic, comfortable living. So if we have an extra room to contend to, what use will it have? What can we do with it?
So for those of you who have an extra room in your home and aren’t quite sure what to do with it, this list is for you!
Here are 3 things you can do with that extra room in your home!
1. Guest Room
The Guest Room is perhaps the most standard thing one can do with an extra room in their house. As it says on the tin, a guest room is a room that’s specifically reserved for guests on the chance that they want or need to stay over. It’s typically furnished like a traditional bedroom, with a bed and curtains and a rug and maybe a table and chair, and even an on-suite bathroom if you can afford it. Either way, this is where your guests would typically stay on the occasions that they may stay a night, so it’s best to make it as cozy and welcoming as possible.
2. Karaoke Room
A Karaoke Room is another way you could use that extra room in your home. You can buy a karaoke set from online and hook it up to a spare TV screen, then mount said TV screen somewhere in the room, fill the rest of the space with cushy chairs and sofas, and viola – a DIY karaoke room is complete!
For a karaoke room, however, it may also be best to soundproof the walls by pasting soundproofing material over it, so that any belt-out lyrics don’t upset the neighbors or the other people staying with you in the home. For an added note of luxury, you could even get a mini fridge to put in the karaoke room as well, and stuff it with all manner of beverages and goodies so you won’t get parched or hungry while singing!
3. Movie Room
A Movie Room is practically a miniature personal theatre; wherein you can place an enormous TV screen (or even just a standard one if you can’t afford it), put a surround-sound speaker set, and fill with cushy sofas to really create that theatre-esque look. For an even better atmosphere, you can also buy lights with dimming options, so you can slowly extinguish the lights and immerse yourself fully in the magic of the film.
Even better, you can buy yourself a home popcorn maker and put it in your kitchen, so that you can make popcorn for yourself everytime you want to watch a movie. A mini-fridge might also be a good idea to put in the movie room as well, as you can grab a drink or keep one chilled whenever you want without the risk of missing out on any portion of the movie.
There are all sorts of cool things you can do with an extra room in your home. So rather than resigning it to being a cluttered storage room to put the things you don’t want and are too lazy to give away, why not convert it instead to one of these cute extra room ideas?
