Which Gutter Is Better: Galvanised Or Metal

Which Gutter Is Better: Galvanised Or Metal

A drainage system is not just a convenient way to drain precipitation or melt water, but also a necessity: it allows you to protect the facade, walls and especially the foundation of the house from the destructive action of excess moisture, which means it prolongs the life of the building. The elements of the drainage system, one of which is the best roof gutter in Malaysia, are made of different materials: metal, galvanised steel or plastic. Plastic is lighter and more affordable, but metal products that have proven to be the most reliable are still preferred to it. There is only one problem: it is not entirely clear which gutter, metal or galvanised, is better to choose.

The advantages of different types of gutters

Both galvanized and metal gutters are highly reliable and are optimal for domestic climatic conditions, so there is no definite answer to the question of which one is best suited for most buildings. Let’s highlight the features of both types of elements of the drainage system.

Galvanized products:

  • Resistant to corrosion, withstand precipitation equally well in different climatic conditions;
  • Have a fairly long service life (as a rule, a guarantee is given for a period of 10 years);
  • Are characterized by low weight;
  • More affordable.

They also have disadvantages: as a result of temperature differences and thermal expansion of galvanized products, seams can rupture, which, in turn, increases the likelihood of an extraordinary repair.

Metal gutters:

  • Especially resistant to deformation, do not violate the tightness of the structure with a sharp temperature drop;
  • Have increased rigidity and withstand additional mechanical loads;

Have a more attractive appearance.

Finally, do not forget about the financial side of the issue: as a rule, the cost of metal gutters is several times higher than the cost of products made of galvanized steel. Keep this in mind when planning construction and repair work in your home.
